Comprising a Life

The Bonsai, Travels and Haiku of Vaughn Banting

Teaching bonsai in Cali Columbia

In 1991 I was invited to be the headliner for an International Bonsai Convention in Cali Columbia. The following photographs are of some of the workshops, demonstrations and critiques I presented while there.

The days of the convention were broken by luncheons at members' homes and by tours to private collections. I was impressed by the level of achievement in members bonsai and by the notable number of women (a strong majority) growing bonsai there. Also of note were the species of trees being used, some of which I had never heard of being used for bonsai before.

On last day of the convention I staged a Mardi Gras celebration unseing beads, trinkets and masks I had brought with me for the occasion.
