Comprising a Life

The Bonsai, Travels and Haiku of Vaughn Banting

Yakumo Nihon Teien

The Japanese Garden Society of New Orleans  is currently constructing a Japanese garden in City Park's Botanical Garden. http://www.neworleanscitypark.com/nobgtour.php   Its name is Yakumo Nihon Teien and as I say it is still under construction but for more information you may click on this link http://www.jgsneworleans.org/

The following photographs were taken during its construction.

Landscape Architect, Robin Tanner is the designer for the project but because he has his own  landscape business to run  he isn't able dedicate his entire schedule towards  the project and  thus is donating his own time and labor towards it.

This has obviously affected the pace of  work at the site but I for one am happy we have Robin leading the effort. His long  time interest in Japan and his several visits there have given him a unique perspective of what a Japanese garden really is.

I am very excited about how the garden is progressing and I suggest anyone who can manage the time, to go and visit it and enjoy it as it develops.
